Karen is a mother to 4 children (3 teens) and grandmother to 2, having faced her own struggles in life decided to go on her own journey of self-discovery and recovery, having made it through wanted to help others do the same. Having been through many adverse experiences means Karen is able to empathise with and understand circumstances others may find themselves in.
Karen initially qualified in Therapeutic Counselling and Hypnotherapy taking a keen interest in psychological trauma.
Karen has helped many adults work through their issues using creative and non-verbal therapy to compliment talking therapy and has since trained in the Rewind Technique which helps with PTSD and psychological trauma.
Karen volunteers as a Samaritan's listener having so far offered over 600 hours of her free time to support members of the public experiencing emotional distress and/or having suicidal thoughts or plans.
Karen's interest in working with children and young people came about after working in the support department in secondary school and witnessing the pressure young people face in and out of school and noticing the lack of understanding and emotional support available to them and their parents; this prompted Karen to train with Place2Be in children's counselling and work with them as a therapeutic counsellor using creative and play therapy.
The variety of techniques Karen has to offer means she is able to work in a way that is suited to you and your therapeutic journey.

I offer Counselling to individuals on both a short and long term basis with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it fully in a more authentic and present manner. I believe having compassion for self and bringing mindful awareness into your daily life are the basic ingredients in helping you to work toward change. I incorporate a number of various influences depending on where my client is at which include:
•CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy)
•Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT)
Throughout my time as a Therapist, I have worked with a range of presentations and issues, in private practice, a woman's charity and a drug and alcohol organisation. Listed below are some of the issues I help clients with:
Work and life Stress • Relationship issues • Panic Attacks • Anxiety •Loss and abandonment • Addiction • Depression • Domestic Violence• Low mood • Feeling sad or unhappy • Loss of fulfilment
Some clients come to therapy as a last resort because they begin to feel they can no longer sustain their lives whilst living with their distress and other clients attend therapy because something just doesn't feel quite right inside. Whatever the spectrum of your distress, counselling can help you to understand your patterns more deeply.
Training, qualifications & experience
I began my training at The Gestalt Centre, which is London's leading institute for Counselling and Psychotherapy and then went onto do further training at CPPD, which is one of the leading Humanistic Integrative counselling schools in the UK.
I hold a Certificate in Humanistic Counselling, a Diploma and an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling.
I also am trained in Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

Follow up session - £60
I also offer a reduced rate for booking bulk sessions, please check in with me for more details.
As a Counsellor, I am extremely passionate about providing effective therapy which can lead to relieving the distress which we all experience at some point in our lives - be it panic, family issues, low self-esteem, relationship issues, generalised anxiety disorder, work stress or any other means of distress clients experience.
Outside my formal training, I also have a keen interest in the body and mind connection and am aware of how yoga, mindfulness and meditation can strengthen this connection.
