Books to read with your child

Snakes and Ladders therapists may use books and storytelling in therapy sessions and we often recommend reading books with your child to support the therapeutic process, help children to explore experiences and feelings, to help build the parent-child relationship and open up lines of communication.

We strongly recommend reading the chosen book through a couple of times yourself to see if it is appropriate for your child and also what feelings it brings up for you as stories can be quite emotive. It is important to be fully engaged with your child and prepared to support any difficult emotions that come up for them, your child may want to read the same book over and over while they process whatever they connect with.

You are always welcome to discuss any issues with your child's therapist who will be happy to support you.

Please, scroll down to the book titles relevant to your child
